I am an educator, composer and author currently living in the beautiful mountains of North Wales.
I earned a BMus from the University of London, and a MMus and PhD in music from the University of North Wales, Bangor.
I compose production music for commercials, films and both national and international television programmes. I also write books on music technology, music theory and music history – many of which are used for university degree programs all over the world – check out the Study Texts section of this site to view some of these.
I have taught music at both undergraduate and college level and for the last fifteen years I taught as a part of and subsequently ran the Music Technology and Creative Technology Departments of what was once described as the ‘jewel of North Wales’, the adult education institution Coleg Harlech.
I genuinely love teaching this wonderful subject and consider myself extremely fortunate to have assisted so many students to realise their dreams of making music their career.
In my time I have studied many different styles of music, both Western and non-Western, ancient and modern. This knowledge provides me with a unique perspective that my students find very valuable. Check out the Testimonials section if you want to read some thoughts and comments from both past and current students.
